Lion and lamb

Lion and lamb

"The lion shall lie down with the lamb" - Loose interpretation of Isaiah 11:6

Visitors to our home find it interesting that Max and our cat Geo are such good friends. They have always enjoyed their rough and tumble play together before laying down next to each other to survey the property.

The first photo above took place shortly after Terry and I finished eating dinner together while relaxing in our Cracker Barrel rocking chairs on the front porch. Max, Indy and Geo always share our food and tonight were treated to hamburgers, French fries and peas. Although Geo is a cat she enjoys all foods including French fries, Cheez-Its, potato chips, homemade bread, pizza, spaghetti and actually just about anything thrown to her. After finishing their scraps the trio will chill out around the porch. Tonight, Max and Geo sat side-by-side on the porch and overlooked the surrounding landscape. You probably noticed part of Geo's right ear is missing, a casualty of skin cancer caused by pink skin combating with sunlight, the downfall of being an outside cat. Eventually, the pair slipped into the grass to lay side-by-side in the sun kissed grass.

Not only do our dogs share friendship with Geo, but they also serve as her protectors. As an outside cat who spends her nights on the front porch, Geo has encountered a fair number of wildlife including feral cats, possums, raccoons and the occasional coyote. Our Ring doorbell alerts us to these intruders and we "unleash the hounds of Hell" out the front door, who in turn chase these vagrants off into the woods. Geo watches this silently from her little furry bed with a certain sense of arrogance knowing "her boys" have once again come to her rescue without her having to budge an inch.
