ALCO RSD-1 #1016 (builder number 70647) was built in 1942 for the US Army 8026.  The Alaska Railroad acquired it in 1949.  In 1953 they rebuilt it as RF1B number 1067.  Another fascinating part of this photo is the turntable on which the locomotive rests.
