This is the 1500, an EMD F7A built in 1952 for the Alaska Railroad, builders plate 17710. Equipped with a 16cyl 567B, the 1500 was part of the first order of F7 units that were part of the modernization of the railroad. 1500 was the first F7A and last F7A in the Alaska Railroad.

Number 1500 was used for PR such as the locomotive used in the artwork concerning the transfer of Federal to State ownership in 1985, the Papal Express of 1981, and of course the 1985 movie Runaway Train. These photos show in depth what an ARR F unit looked like in detail for historical or for use as modeling references for those who want to recreate this locomotive in model form. And for those who ran these, a little something to bring back some memories. Mike Gerenday, 5/5/21
