GE 45 ton #7249 was purchased new by the U. S. Army in 1942.  It then fell into the hands of the Cornhusker Ordnance plant in Ovina, Nebraska.  The Alaska Railroad obtained it in 1974 and one of its uses was in Valdez during the oil pipeline boom.  This small unit was retired it in 1983, switched hands many times and is still used today.
