In March and April 2022 my wife and I took ItaliaRail on three different legs in Italy. Train travel in Italy is easy, efficient and is the best way to travel between cities. Tickets can be purchases online, smart phone app, station kiosk or in person from a station agent.

Trenitalia, Italy’s government owned train runs high speed intercity services as well as regional trains. The rail cars offer free Wifi, food service, comfortable seats, ample leg room and air conditioning. Passengers can pay an increased fare and receive such amenities as large leather seats, complimentary drinks, food, newspapers, etc. On our car a steward served coffee, resusable water boxes and either sweet or salty snacks.

One interesting twist is the train's departure track is not announced until ten minutes prior to it's arrival. Passenger watch the hanging board for updates and the announcement of its platform. Once on board sit back, relax and enjoy the beautiful Italian scenery. I love these bullet trains with speeds reaching 160mph.

If you are handicap then contact Sala Blu in advance of your trip. Employees will transport your baggage as well as lift you and your wheelchair onto the train.
