As Forrest Gump says, "Life is a box of chocolates.  You never know what you're gonna get."   And so it is with the Alaska Railroad.  Products are shipped by barge from the lower 48 states via a wide variety of freight car roadnames.  It could be a load of Canadian fertilizer for Alaska Mill and Feed or an auto carrier full of SUVs for Anchorage Chrysler Dodge Center.  This variety adds a degree of intrigue for the railfan and a terrific opportunity for a model railroader to beef up the layout inventory.
