A Moose Sighting

by Paul Zoller, ARR Cook from 1993-1998

I always had a scanner on so I could listen to what was going on the railroad.  I could hear the engineer and the conductor talking back and forth.  I heard them say a moose was hit by the south bound train.  A rail crew was behind them and hoisted the moose by its neck with a crane.  They went into a hole (a hole is what they call a siding).   So there was a moose hanging by its neck from a crane.  I ran into the dining room and yelled, "Moose on the right!"  So the passengers looked to the right to see a poor moose hanging by its neck from a crane.  Most of them laughed.  A couple gave me a dirty look and said,"eww".
