Work Train on Palmer Branch.
Recently the company work train dumped ballast from South Palmer Depot to the wye at Matanuska. I managed to get some photos of the train as they were working, they did a little switching on the gravel loop and made some noise. I wasn't able to spend much time getting photos but I did get enough to document the rare movement on the branch.
Every once in a while I do bump into fellow railfans and photographers as I did this day. Bill Hess was also out to get photos of the elusive caboose since he had a tip it was out and about. With the rarity of something other than the gravel train on the Palmer Branch I assume there were a couple others that got some images. If not, then we did, and that's OK. Some folks don't realize the importance of a fleeting moment.
Thanks to Gordon Larson for the heads up that the work train was on the branch. For now these are the last photos for the week, or at least until I get a little time to post something. The summer passenger season has blown up on the railroad and it seems to be getting more busy.
