Just wanted to let you know, Mr. Combs, "Weaver E." Franklin who was the last living engineer of AKRR No.557 lost his life on Thurday. I know you have his contributions on here and not sure if you had the pleasure of meeting him. If you, or anyone else has pictures or stories to share, he work with the AKRR for over four decades.

Hi John, just got back from 10 days in Alaska. Rode the train from Anchorage to Seward and then all the way up to Fairbanks. Fantastic journey! Keep up the good work you do here. Thanks ;)

On Monday, the 18th of May we boarded the Alaska Railroad for a trip from Fairbanks to Anchorage. The Gold Star was worth the added expense. Tuesday we again boarded the train for the trip to Seward and back. Wednesday we took the train back to Fairbanks. After staying at Chena Hot springs, we drove to Whitehorse, Yukon. Took the White Pass & Yukon but to Frazier where we boarded the train to Skagway. Bused back to Whitehorse and then drove to Skagway, played tourist and then the ferry back home to Sitka. Rode all the trains in Alaska and had a wonderful time

Was looking for some photo's of Alaska RR and come across your web site. Like it a lot. I was stationed in Ft. Wainwright (Fairbanks) for close to 3 yrs 1/67 - 9/69. Loved the state. Even got to be on the passenger. It just wasn't going anywhere. It was a place to stay when the Flash Flood hit Fairbanks and I couldn't get back to base. Anyway great web site and glad to see them restoring another great Steam Engine.

Hi John,

thank you so much for providing all this interesting stuff and information. It takes a lot of endurance to provide a website in that topicality and quality of information. Keep the good work goin'!

If ever someone asks me if you shall be given No. 3015 after retirement (no matter her's or your's) I'll agree. As far as you keep her on the tracks. ;)

Volker
