yellow diamondNo. 557 Info: 557 restoration activities have made movement toward normality. We are back on our regular four-day-per-week schedule while maintaining our distance and wearing masks. However, shop tours and visitors are not being accepted at this time. Alaska has been very fortunate in that the number of cases of COVID-19 and fatalities have been very low. Unlike tourist related businesses, we don't yet operate so the lack of earned income is unchanged from before the current situation. However, the loss of all cruise ship visits, severe cut-backs in Alaska Railroad trains, low oil prices, and lack of trickle down into the economy are affecting donations used for the restoration. We welcome and appreciate your contributions. We continue to chip away at the $60,000 matching grant and $15,000 remains available. Matching funds are received on a one-for-one basis and become available as soon as donations are received. Information on contributing by credit card or check can be found here. - 5/23/20

They are specified as follows: Palmer - A branch, Suntrana - D branch, Whittier - F branch, Eielson - G branch, FAI - H branch, ANC - J branch. Why are there are no B, C, E, and I branches on the Alaska Railroad?  I asked Frank Keller about this and he responded, "I would think that they were in existence at one time, but have been eliminated. In looking at my old track chart I see Branch B was a 3 mile Branch to Jonesville removed in 1969. Looks like the Valdez terminal was Branch I. Not sure about C & E."
